Susan has worked in the emerging markets on both the sell and buy side for over 20
years. After having been called to the Bar in Canada in 1985, Susan joined JP Morgan
in 1986, when she was Head of Emerging Markets Sales, Europe. In 1993, Susan
joined Goldman Sachs International as an Executive Director and Head of Sales and
Trading responsible for developing its emerging markets debt business in Europe.
In 1997, Susan founded Emergent Asset Management Limited, an award –winning,
alternative investment firm based in the UK, where she is a Principal. In addition to
its stable of hedge funds, Emergent manages the largest agricultural fund in Africa,
where its local office is based in South Africa.
In both 2007 and 2008, Susan was listed by Financial News as one of the Top 100
Women in Finance in Europe. Susan was awarded one of eight Shell UK Women of
the Future Awards 2006, in 2008, was appointed a Merrill Lynch/Shell UK Women of
Achievement Ambassador.
Susan is on the Board of MyC4, a microfinance business focused on ending poverty
in Africa, and is a Patron of the Africa-focused charity Medical Aid Films. She is also
Head of the London Chapter of 85 Broads, the largest professional women’s network
in the world.
Susan began her schooling in Vancouver, Canada and completed it in Rome, Italy.
She holds three Honours degrees, including two in law from Oxford University and
McGill University, Montreal, respectively. She also studied at St. Andrews
University, Scotland, University of Perugia, Italy and University of Tel Aviv, Israel. |

Geoff Burke was brought up on a sheep and beef farm in New Zealand, in a family that was involved with agricultural investment from ‘paddock to plate’. He made his first investment in the agriculture sector at the age of 10. He graduated from Massey University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Business Studies (Agricultural Business) and from Lincoln University in 1997 with a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Science (Biological Husbandry).
He has several years experience in SRI (Sustainable and Responsible
Investment) and spent eight years in investment banking/asset management including JP Morgan, Lehman Brothers and Credit Suisse Asset Management in the City of London. He worked for the Organic Research Centre at Elm Farm in Berkshire for a number of years as Organic Farm Adviser, Business Development Manager and as Managing Director of the Organic Arable Marketing Group. He was also involved in the establishment of the Organic Seed Producers Company as its founding Managing Director.
In New Zealand he was a member of the certification committee for AgriQuality an organic certification organisation and has been involved with farmland investment management and advisory work, organic research, a diverse ‘care farm’ operation, apple orchard investments, dairy sheep investment projects, organic viticulture investment and a multi-enterprise ‘gastro farm’ initiative. |

Oliver Barnes is a fifth generation agricultural specialist whose great grandfather pioneered the British horticultural Industry. One of Oliver’s family businesses, Chesswood Produce Limited, became one of Europe’s largest horticultural businesses. In his early teens Mr. Barnes developed a keen interest in emerging market agriculture and conservation when living on Ol Pejeta Ranch, a 130,000 acre wheat, livestock and game ranch in Africa. Mr. Barnes started his career working as part of an expatriate team involved in the turnaround of horticultural company Sulmac (Kenya) Limited, a distressed Unilever business acquired by the Commonwealth Development Corporation. Sulmac was a horticultural business predominately supplying Europe with over a million stems of flowers a day. While at Sulmac, Oliver was responsible for the venture setup of a new field horticulture division which supplied over 30 tonnes of fresh vegetables per week into European supermarkets. In 2002, Oliver joined a British start-up waste recycling company as a development director. In 2005, Mr. Barnes became a strategic adviser to a group of private investors working on contaminated land remediation strategies and venture set-up for alternative oilseed crops. During this period, Mr. Barnes also lead the development of valuation models for an Asian forestry investment initiative now know as Sunshine Technology Group. In 2007, Mr. Barnes launched Miro Holdings International Limited. The Miro Group has successfully launched three clean energy companies, an agricultural asset management company, a company specialising in edible oil from algae and a forestry company. Mr. Barnes studied Agricultural Business Management at Imperial College, University of London. |

Rumen Beremski brings extensive experience in banking and private equity in the real estate sector both in Bulgaria and abroad. He has successfully put together and executed a number of investment projects with international participation. In 1993, he joined the EBRD in London where he worked for 8 years as a Principal banker in project finance for the South Eastern Europe region. In 2001 Rumen came back to Bulgaria and became Chairman and CEO of Biochim bank, a large state owned bank. Under his management the bank was privatized and acquired by Bank Austria Credit Anstalt, member of the HVB group. Rumen stayed on as Chairman and CEO for two more years. In 2003 Biochim Bank was awarded Bank of the Year 2003 by The FT Banker magazine.
During the last five years Rumen has focused strongly on private equity investment and management in the real estate sector and renewable energy. He helped raise the funding for and was a member of the Supervisory Board of Bulgaria Property Developments, a fund raised on AIM and CEO of Landmark Property Investment and Management, a private equity fund investing in Bulgaria. He has also initiated as a principal investor and promoter the first Golf Resort project on the Black Sea coast designed by Gary Player and WATG. Currently Rumen works on the development of several large renewable energy projects and is seeking funding for the establishment of an agribusiness fund for Bulgaria. Jantzen Development owns 30 percent of the company, and Mr. Jantzen is a member of the senior management.
In Romania, Jantzen Development has established a crop production with 6.000 hectares and a new farm build as a Green-field project. The project was sold to 75 private investors. Jantzen Development is managing the project for the investors and owns 12 percent of the company.
Prior to the start of developing projects in Central and Eastern Europe, Mr. Jantzen together with 5 pension funds co-founded and headed an equity fund with special focus on investments in pig production where 12 big pig production units in Denmark were established. Later he served as a CEO for a major European listed company within the European farm industry. For more than 20 years he owned and operated a major pig and crop production in Denmark which he sold in 2006.
Mr. Jantzen holds a degree in Agriculture and finance; he is a widely recognized expert within agricultural investments in Central and Eastern Europe. |

Pierre ROLLAND is member of Geosys executive board and focuses on international business development and sales coordination. Starting with Geosys 5 years from now, he has 15 years experience in Agriculture business and sales particularly. Prior joining Geosys, he acted developing sales to the agriculture sector in France, for Eurofins Scientific, international group of laboratories providing ranges of testing and support services to the pharmaceutical, food, environmental and consumer products industries and to governments leader. He started his agriculture experience with Monsanto, developing sales for crop protection and seeds.
Pierre holds a Master’s degree in Agriculture from “Ecole d’Ingénieurs de Purpan” in France and a M.B.A from Paris X University. He is member of the Director board of the “Ecole d’Ingénieurs de Purpan” and of the Intellagri Capital Investment, company of the group “Purpan”.
